Terry Rogan is one of the most experienced photographers in Australia. He initially founded the National Photo Training College in 1988 which was Australia’s only private, fully accredited, photographic training college in NSW that had reciprocal accreditation in VIC, QLD and ACT. This quickly evolved and he was soon delivering the first and Australia’s only Photographic Retail Traineeships Cert II and III level that helped revolutionise the photo lab industry sector. Terry now runs semi-private photography courses in Sydney where he shares his passion and knowledge about photography.

Sydney's best waterfall and landscape photography course

Time to escape into nature with your camera in hand. Join us for a semi private photography tour to learn about waterfalls photography and advanced photography techniques with us in the Blue Mountains. It will be a small group photo tour traveling from Sydney in executive comfort with lunch included. Just one comprehensive great day of photography with other photo enthusiasts.

Your tour is led by a professional photographer with more than 30 years experience who is passionate about nature and photography. Unlike many tours, we give you 100% of our time and dont take our own personal photos. We are here to assist you to learn and share our advice. This photography class is limited in size to allow all levels of photographer to learn and have the space to find that perfect composition. The hands on support from your guide will ensure plenty of one-to-one time to fully understand full manual exposure.

What makes this Picture Me Photography Tour Unique?

A crafted content to help you understand how to capture great waterfalls photos. We dont complicate the topic or talk about ourselves. You will travel in executive comfort with a maximum group of 6 to the best waterfalls photography locations in the Blue Mountains. There is plenty of one-to-one time with your guide to allow everyone to work and learn at their own pace.

Why should you do a Blue Mountains Photography Tour?

Join a semi private small group photography tour with an experienced professional photographer and accredited trainer. Learn all about your camera with practical sessions in nature or water photography and how to craft with light to capture the perfect shot. This full day tour is ideal for beginners or serious amateurs who want the best from their camera and take great photos. 

 

There are also many macro, closeup photo opportunities for the photographer with a keen eye during our photography tour.  You will shoot with slow shutter speeds so we encourage everyone to have their own tripod and bring at least two lenses; ideally one wide angle 17mm-35mm. Please let us know if you need a loan share tripod (at no cost).

The walk back at Wentworth Falls is steep so we allow 45 minutes and advise that you require moderate fitness.

 

Our maximum group size is six so everyone has time to talk with the guide and have space at all locations. Additional discussion time is also set during the morning tea and lunch breaks. We return you to your pickup point at the end of the tour.

We provide bottled water, a local professional photographer guide, handout notes & loan share tripods at no cost in a small group up to 6 people.

Frequently asked questions about our Blue Mountains Photography Tour

Is this the same as your Blue Mountains Small Group Tour?

No, this Photography Tour is focussed on learning how to you your digital camera with the day spent going through step by step techniques of photography. It is suited for those that would like to enjoy the Blue Mountains but learn how to take photos of moving water, rainforest & landscapes.

Is this Photography Tour for beginners?

Beginners are most welcome to join us and we will do our best to accomodate you to learn how to use your camera. It would be recommended to have some basic knowledge about using your camera to make best use of the day and get the most out of it.

What camera do I need to take waterfall photos?

We will teach you the techniques needed to create stunning waterfall photos and the ‘cotton effect’ of moving water. We will show you how to use your tripod and ND filters to create amazing waterfall photographs using your DSLR camera. All camera brands and types are suitable and we recommend a digital SLR with one or two lenses.

Is this course in a class room or outdoors?

We do not do boring photography courses in a classroom where you look at theory on a board. Our courses are hands-on, practical and you go outside where you can learn and try new techniques at your own pace with an accredited trainer.

What happens if there is bad weather on the day of our booking?

The weather adds texture to our day and can change quickly. We respect your time and desire to attend but also want to ensure that our outdoor experience is safe, comfortable and enjoyable. If the weather or environment precludes an enjoyable day, we will contact you as soon as practical. Picture Me Sydney cannot be held liable for any third party costs incurred by you if our experience is cancelled.  Attendees will be offered an alternate date. If a date is not suitable we will offer a full refund.

What do I need to bring along?

Good walking shoes, hat and sunscreen for any tour or class. We also recommend you bring a pen, fully charged camera battery and a clean memory card.

Can I bring luggage along on a day tour?

Due to the small size of our touring vehicles, we do not have space to store luggage on board. We recommend that our guests travel with a light small day pack, as it will rest on your lap throughout the duration of the tour. Luggage can be stored at your hotel or Smart Carte Storage is located near our Central or Clocktower pickup – contact them (02) 9247 1709 about storage options prior to tour.

 

What is actually included in each tour or course?

 

We detail what is or is not included upon booking. Please read our communications or contact us for more detail.

Can I bring my child or an extra person?

We do not accept children younger than 15 and all under 18 attending must be in the company of a paying parent or guardian. We cannot allow anyone to bring additional persons without paying for that person. It is essential that we are aware of all guests attending. 

All traveling persons must have a separate seat allocated for their use. 

Carrying an infant on one’s lap or having them occupy space in the aisle is not permitted. If there are no seats available for any undisclosed party to occupy, the entire traveling party may be denied the opportunity to travel and will forfeit their fares. We allow children under 15 on a private booking only.

What are the health and fitness levels required?

Our tours and classes will require a reasonable amount of walking. This will often include stairs, uneven surfaces or bush terrain. It is not suitable for people with back or joint problems, pregnant women or children. We detail the amount of walking and fitness level in each of our experiences. Please contact us to discuss further.

Is parking and transport easy to access?

We have chosen convenient locations with a ready made backdrop for you to take photos. Parking is not included but numerous car parking stations are available nearby. We have two different meet points so please check your booking for details.

 

What if I am running late?

We have a packed program so please be prompt and ready at the agreed time and meet point.  We appreciate some unforeseen circumstances may occur so please contact us via phone and we will do our best to accommodate you. We reserve the right to refuse entry to any person who causes unnecessary departure delays. Please also read our Cancellation Policy.

What if I get sick or an injury stops me attending?

We understand some guests may become ill before their tour but we are not in a position to absorb loss of revenue when guests are unable to join our tours or classes at short notice.

We strongly recommend all guests to take out travel insurance to help cover costs associated with situations such as this. Where required, we are happy to provide a letter for your insurer, to assist you in making a claim.

 

What are the food selections?

Tours that include a meal will have vegan, vegetarian and gluten free options. Guests MUST advise us three days prior to the tour day.

What are the cancellation policies for a booking?

You can reschedule your attendance with not less than three days’ notice to another date, subject to availability without penalty. If you reschedule with less than three days’ notice and choose an alternate available date, a rebooking fee of $50 applies. There are no refunds available if you cancel a booking with less than 72 hours notice. Please email us with your original booking and preferred new date. We will send a confirmation of that request within 24 hours.

 

Picture Me Sydney reserves the right to reschedule or cancel an event due to weather or other circumstance. A full refund is available if alternate dates are not suitable. Picture Me Sydney limits its group size and commits itself to resources and personnel in advance. Those who do not attend are not eligible for any refund and are liable for the full cost for attendance at that event.

Can I arrange hotel pick up and drop off?

This is included in any private tour booking. It may be available by special request for all other bookings. Sydney is a busy and congested city so we will limit this availability. Please enquire with us before making a booking as additional fees will apply.
